Platforms Versus Tags back to top
Platforms and tags are essentially the same when it comes to defining and filtering. Tags can be defined as pretty much anything under the sun with no effect beyond filtering. Platforms, however, are required when applications and versions are defined. Platforms are also used to filter version details and associate dependencies. When it comes to deciding whether something should be a platform or a tag, think about whether it would require a separate build of your application to support it.
Defining Platforms and Tags back to top
To create new platforms and tags, tap the 'platform/tag editor' button
on the menu bar of the main window. In the platform/tag list, tap the 'add platform/tag' button
at the top. Give the item a name and specify whether it should be a platform or tag. To edit an existing platform or tag, select it in the list and tap the 'edit platform/tag' button
.
Ordering the Platform/Tag List back to top
Whenever FooBrain lists the platforms and tags they will be displayed in the order shown in the platform/tag editor list. To change the order, select the record you want to move and tap the 'move to top'
, 'move up'
, 'move down'
, or 'move to bottom'
buttons until it gets to the position you want.
Filtering the Application List back to top
To set up a platform/tag filter for the application list, tap the 'platform/tag filter' button
. In the filter window, you will see at the top the list of predefined and saved filters. At the bottom is the list of platforms and tags that you can set to show or hide. You can save a filter set for quick use in the future, but you don't have to save it to use it.
To define a filter set, simply check on or off all of the tags you want to participate in the filter, then specify the combination method by choosing 'Match All' which only shows applications having all of the checked tags, 'Match Any' which shows applications having any of the checked tags, or 'Match None' which shows applications having none of the checked tags.
Clear/Select All back to top
The two predefined filters are '-Clear All-' and '-Select All-'. The '-Clear All-' filter will result in a blank application list and the '-Select All-' filter will result in the full application list. You can also use these two filters to check or uncheck all tags in order to define a custom filter set.
Saving Filters back to top
Once you define a filter set you don't need to do anything else to implement the filter. If you want to save it for later use, however, simply enter a name into the text area just below the saved filter list. Whenever you come back to the filter window, you will then see it in the saved list.
Editing Filters back to top
To edit a saved filter, you only need to replace it with an alternate one. Tap your filter in the saved list and then copy the filter name to the clipboard (tap and hold on the filter name text box). Modify the filter to your liking and then paste the filter name back into the filter name text area (tap and hold on the text area again). This will replace the previous filter with the new set. Note that if you accidentally give a new filter the same name as an existing one, the existing filter will be replaced.
Deleting Filters back to top
To delete an existing filter from the saved list, tap the filter name in the saved filter list. You will see it appear in the filter name text area. You can now tap the 'delete filter' button
and it will be removed from the list. The filter set will remain in the tag list below so that you can now perform other tasks, such as renaming the set.
